From the supplier: Californians voted in March 1996 against tort law changes that would have curbed the rights of consumers, but Republicans in the US Congress fail to understand that the restrictions they are trying to pass do not have the support of a majority of Americans. Tort reforms backed by big business and insurance companies have been defeated in Republican states such as Arizona and Michigan. Californians voted down a no-fault car insurance system, a cap on contingency fees and a loser-pays rule in securities fraud cases.
