Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss won back his Georgia senate seat of over Democratic candidate Jim Martin in the runoff elections today, ending Democrats’ hope for a filibuster-proof senate. Republicans’ “desperate” (as Martin called it) measures of pouring in money and political celebrities such as Sarah Palin and big names such as Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Giuliani to the campaign has paid off, as Chambliss wins to function as a “firewall” against the Democrats in Washington.
